Shortcuts & Siri
Control focus sessions and add tasks from the Shortcuts app, Spotlight, and Siri.
Focusmo registers a set of actions with macOS, so you can drive it without opening the app — from the Shortcuts app, Spotlight, or Siri. There's nothing to set up: the actions appear as soon as Focusmo is installed. They run in the background and answer with a short confirmation.
Actions
| Action | What it does | Try saying |
|---|---|---|
| Start Focus Session | Starts a session on the next task in your list, resumes a paused one, or ends a running break | "Start a focus session in Focusmo" |
| Pause Focus Session | Pauses the running session | "Pause Focusmo" |
| Resume Focus Session | Resumes a paused session | "Resume Focusmo" |
| End Focus Session | Stops the current session; the task stays in your list | "Stop Focusmo" |
| Complete Current Task | Completes the task you're working on — outside a session, the next task in your list | "Mark my task done in Focusmo" |
| Add Task | Adds a task to today's list — a title, and optionally minutes (30 by default) | "Add a task to Focusmo" |
If nothing is queued, Start Focus Session tells you to add a task first.
Building your own shortcuts
In the Shortcuts app, search for Focusmo to find the actions and combine them with anything else — for example, a shortcut that adds a task and then starts a session on it.
Looking for keyboard shortcuts instead? See Command Palette & Quick Capture. And for turning macOS Do Not Disturb on and off with your sessions, see the Do Not Disturb integration — it uses Shortcuts the other way round.
