Getting Started
Your First Session
What happens on first launch, and how to get to your first focused 25 minutes.

First launch
On first run, FocusMo walks you through a short setup:
- Welcome & goals — tell FocusMo what brings you here (skippable); this personalizes the setup.
- Your task manager — FocusMo works alongside Things, Reminders, Todoist, Notion, and friends — you don't have to migrate anything.
- Setup steps — grant the Accessibility permission, choose your focus shortcut (default ⌃⌘S), and try it on some selected text.
- Check-ins & activity tracking — optional extras you can enable now or later.
- Trial — a 7-day Pro trial starts automatically so you see the whole app.
When you finish, FocusMo opens the main window and starts your first 25-minute focus session — the best way to understand the app is to feel one session end to end.
The basic loop
- Add a task — press
cin the task list or use the command palette (⌃⌘T). Type something likeWrite report 45m. - Start — press ⌘Enter in the palette, or hit the play button.
- Work — the floating timer counts down; distractions get blocked if your task has a Project.
- Finish — the celebration screen appears; jot down what you accomplished.
- Review — check the Activity dashboard at the end of the day.
After onboarding
- The Get Started button (graduation cap) in the sidebar reopens a guided tour of deeper features — the always-on display, logging, Focus Mode, and your first Project.
- Turn on Launch at login (Settings → General) so FocusMo is always ready.
Next: learn the timer modes, or connect your task manager.
